David E. Shaver, 61, died Dec. 11, 2008.
Born on Nov. 4, 1947 in S. Charleston, W.Va., he lived in Akron since 1952. He graduated from Central High School in 1965 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970. David was employed at Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems Corporation for 29½;years and was a member of Local 856 UAW.
Preceded in death by father, John B. Shaver; he is survived by mother, Merle; children, Robert E. of Akron, Darlene Wilson of N. Port, Fla., Kimberly Hickman of N. Canton; the mother of his children, Sharon; grandchildren, Joseph, Joshua and Jennifer Wilson, Kendra, Kristen, and Kayla Hickman, and Zachrey Shaver; great- grandson, Kovin; brother, John P. Shaver of Lexington, Ky.; aunts and uncles, Theora and Harry Sherwood of Tallmadge, Robert and Lita Shaver of Akron, Charles Green of Akron and many cousins living in Ohio and W. Virginia.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Deacon Peter Watry officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and one hour before services. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron 44333.
