Diane (Carroll) Landis , 85, died on January 3, 2024, surrounded by family. She is preceded in death by her loving husband George “Duke” Landis.
Diane was born on July 22, 1938, in Boston, Massachusetts to John and Mary (Stanley) Carroll and the youngest of six siblings (Barbarba DiFonzo, Joan Norton, Fred Carroll, Jack Carroll, and Richard Carroll). Diane graduated from Framingham High School then attended Framingham State College. She met the love of her life, George “Duke” Landis in 1957 and they enjoyed 57 wonderful years of marriage. They raised their four children in Bath, Ohio and Diane was the ultimate mother and homemaker.
Diane was a long-time member of Fairlawn Country Club and The Akron Women’s City Club. She volunteered with Christ Child Society and was a founding member of the Bath Girls’ Softball League. She enjoyed traveling with her family and friends, reading, and watching Ohio sports especially the Indians, Browns, and Buckeyes. Diane loved to spoil her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Her greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her children, Sherry (Mark) Farley, Scott Landis (Gretchen), Carole “Tiny” (Jerry) Klimo, and Jennifer (Alberto) Whitney; grandchildren, Jessica, Jonathan, Joslin, Juleah, Katherine, Riley, Jimmy, Katie, Kasey, Kelly, Coco, and Layla; great grandchildren, Magnolia, Lily, Adaline, Miley, Truitt, and George; and beloved dog, Bella.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Noon on WEDNESDAY, January 10 at St. Hilary Catholic Church, 2750 West Market St., Akron 44333. Friends may call 11am-Noon on WEDNESDAY at St. Hilary’s.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
