Dolores L. ``Dee' Ferrick passed away January 24, 2011.
Born in Stevensville, Michigan in 1930, Dee, as a small child was raised on her grand parent's farm. She loved animals all her life. She had her own pony and german shepherd dog. Her family moved to the adjoining town of beautiful St. Joe situated on Lake Michigan and its great sand beaches. Dee graduated from high school in St. Joe and then proceeded to South Bend, Indiana and the St. Joseph School of Nursing. It was at this point that she met Jack, a patient and student at the University of Notre Dame. It was love at first sight and they married on Notre Dame Campus, Sacred Heart Church, upon graduation that year. They had a loving marriage and just celebrated sixty years together.
They settled in Buffalo, N.Y., but shortly thereafter, Jack was transferred to Akron in 1956. Dee worked as an R.N. in several local hospitals for a number of years. Upon retirement, she then worked at B.M.I., her husband's Building Supply Business, which they ran successfully for over forty-six years. They traveled the world together, including Manila Luzon, P.I., where Jack served in World War II Army Air Force. They loved their winter home at Marco Island, Florida and spent summers on the beach in St. Joe, Michigan. Their favorite get away in Michigan was the Grand Hotel in Mackinaw Island.
Preceded in death by son, John Jeffrey; Dee leaves behind her beloved husband, Jack; loving daughters, Jennifer Ferrick Vari and Laura Ann Perry; beautiful grandchildren, Isabella, Spencer and Giselle ``Gracie' Vari, Johnny and James Ferrick.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. FRIDAY at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 476 Mull Ave. Interment with Chapel committal at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel THURSDAY 5 to 8 p.m.
