Dolores Hynde

February 16, 1923 — November 4, 2012

Dolores Hynde (nee Roberts)

Dolores Hynde (nee Roberts) passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 4th.

Born in Akron - February 16th, 1923 - her mother Irene was a seamstress and her father Jack was an Akron policeman. She was a student at South High. She moved to NYC after graduation to pursue a modeling career but returned to Akron to marry Melville "Bud" Hynde, who served in the Marines.

She was the personal secretary to Akron entrepreneur A.J. Andreoli for 25 years.

Upon retirement, she and Mel moved to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, but Dolores missed her beloved Akron, and so they moved back to Fairlawn.

She was proud of her musical children - Terry, sax player with Kent's Numbers Band, and Christine `Chrissie' of the Pretenders.

Both siblings always maintained that they owed their artistic natures largely to her, with her striking flair for color and design.

A long standing and devoted member of Faith Lutheran Church, Dolores admitted that she lost her `zest for life' after Bud's death in 2010.

She is survived by her son and daughter, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
