Donald Joseph Borgschulte , born January 4th, 1932, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones in Copley, Ohio on June 7th, 2024. A proud American, loving husband and father and dedicated military man, he served honorably as a United States Army officer during the Korean War and afterwards had a highly successful career as a senior executive and VP with the General Tire company before owning and operating his own independent General Tire dealership and automotive repair center in Springfield, MO.
A pillar of strength and a beacon of love, Don Borgschulte (Dad) was the rock of the Borgschulte family. His unwavering support and boundless love laid the foundation for the many successes our family has enjoyed. He demonstrated daily what it means to be the perfect husband and father, setting an example of integrity, kindness, and truly engaged love and support to his children and their families.
Don was deeply cherished by his loving wife, Elaine Borgschulte, and family, including his six children, twelve grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. His legacy of strength, love, and support will live on in all of us, carried forward in the lives he touched so profoundly. He is survived by his wife Elaine and sons Donald (wife Sandy) and Michael (wife Gitte) Borgschulte and his daughters Kerry (husband William) Schmidt, Vicki Mejeris, and Donna (husband Michael) Rahach. Grandpa loved his grandchildren dearly and is survived by Andrew, Matthew, Ryker and Torben Borgschulte, Cole, Michael and Aidan McKee, Erin Wapelhorst, Allison Schmidt, Emily Conner and Julie Studinski as well as great grandchildren Ben Dybas, Bella and Ireland Conner, Wesley and Blakely Wapelhorst, Avery Easterby, Baker, Carter and Theo Borgschulte. Grandpa was preceded in death by his son John Borgschulte, son-in-law Alfred Mejeris and granddaughter Melissa Dybas.
Dad, your presence in our lives was a blessing beyond measure. We will miss you dearly, but your spirit remains with us, guiding us and comforting us. We love you and honor your memory, now and always, and your legacy will carry on in each of us.
Rest in peace, Dad. You will forever be our hero.
A private family celebration of his amazing life will take place in the future, where we will gather to celebrate the life of a truly remarkable man. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Semper Fi & America’s Fund , dedicated to caring for the brave men and women who served to protect our Nation’s freedom, in Donald Joseph Borgschulte’s memory.
