Donald James Hagarty went home to the Lord on January 10, 2016 after struggling with chronic health issues the last few years.
Don was born on February 20, 1944 to James and Marcene Hagarty in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He was a life-long resident of Cuyahoga Falls and graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1962. During this time, he was a stand-out player in athletics, including baseball and football. In fact, his nick-name by many was "hard-boiled" due to his determination on the playing field. However, as many know, Don was so much more than this. After graduation, he married Karen Ann Hagarty (McDonald), also a member of the Falls class of '62. Don & Karen were married for over 50 years and had two boys, James (Debbie) and Robert (Susan). Don is survived by his sister, Jeanne (Paul) Newmeyer. He also has four grandchildren whom he loved being involved with in all aspects of their lives (Kaitlyn, Ryan, Kylie, and Adam).
Don had a relentless work ethic. Professionally, he began his career as a journeyman machinist shortly after high school. After several years in manufacturing, he purchased and later founded a manufacturing company that is in existence today. Don was always a big-hearted, caring individual. The relationships he formed during his professional and personal life were some of the most important attributes of his life.
In his free-time, Don had life-long hobbies that included motorcycles, cars, fishing, and woodworking. But he cherished family the most. Karen, his two sons, and especially his grandchildren were the most important things in his life.
