Donald G. Hurd, 67, died peacefully at home surrounded by family January 31, 2013.
A lifelong resident of Akron, he served in the Marines and enjoyed both refereeing football for over 25 years and participating with his friends in the Senior Golf League at Firestone. Don was able to retire early with 37 years service from First Energy and spent many years traveling the islands and relaxing on sandy beaches.
Preceded in death by his parents, George and Betty Hurd; he is survived by his wife of 43 years, Theresa; son, Todd and daughter, Traci (Tim) Andrews; grandchildren, Josephine and Henry Andrews; sister, Penny (Nick) Adams; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. WEDNESDAY at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Friends may call at the funeral home TUESDAY from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Lodge, 11432 Mayfield Rd., Cleveland, Ohio 44106-2364.
