Donald Richards

Donald Richards, 89, passed away on October 25, 2012 at the Hospice Care Center.

Don was a lifelong resident of Akron. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Don was a practicing attorney and member of the Akron Bar Assoc. for over 50 years. He was active in the Coventry-Akron Masonic Lodge #83 where he was Past Master and served as treasurer for 32 years. Don was a long-time member of Church of Our Saviour (Episcopal) and served on the vestry. He enjoyed golf, bowling, and playing bridge.

Don was blessed with a large and loving family. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty (nee Rowe); his children, Candi McConnell (Bob), Linda Weitzel, April Richards, Terry Richards (Lisa), and Chris Richards; ten grandchildren, Nikki Moshier (Jeff), Jenny Smith (Eric), Brian Weitzel (Bridget), Brad Weitzel (Katie), Aimee and Sean Donahue, Emily and Tony Richards, Olivia and Makaela Richards; eight great-grandchildren, Sydney and Molly Moshier, Ella and Andrew Weitzel, Tyler and Bryce Weitzel, and Aubrey and Kiera Smith; brother, Nicholas Wright Richards; and his sister, Kay Rogers. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Larry and Fred Richards.

A memorial service to celebrate Don's life will take place 11 a.m. SATURDAY at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with The Rev. Debra Q. Bennett officiating. Inurnment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home FRIDAY from 4 to 7 p.m. where Coventry-Akron Lodge #83 F&AM will conduct services at 7 p.m. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service on SATURDAY at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Akron General Development Foundation, Hospice Fund, 400 Wabash Avenue, Akron 44307 or Rockynol Retirement Community, 1148 W. Market St., Akron 44313.
