Donald I. Smith, 70, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on September 20, 2012 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Hamtramck, Michigan, he lived the last 27 years in Bath. Don retired as the manager of M.P. & L. from the Ford Motor Company in 1997 after 35 years of service. He also served in the U.S. Army and was a judge and breeder of German Shepherds.
Preceded in death by his mother, Bessie; father, Ivory Smith; survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Ingrid; son, Donald II (fiancé Shannon Keeling; children, Canaan Keeling, Daylon Keeling); daughter, Babet Rozek; daughter-in-law, Simone Day; grandchildren, Donald Day, Marcel Rozek, Dezmond Rozek and Eden Smith; brothers, Jimmy and Kenny; sister, Faye; sister-in-law, Astrid; and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Minister David Thomas will conduct the memorial service to be held 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 28th at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron.
