Donald L. Starner, 96, died November 18, 2017.
He was born on March 16, 1921 in Gardners, PA to the late Oscar T. and Esta Z. Starner. Predeceased by wives, Mary M. Lake Starner and Joyce Gang Starner; 2 brothers and 2 sisters; he is survived by daughter, Marian L. (Robert) Steele; sisters, Dorothy E. Sheely, Isabelle M. Grenoble and Loline S. Judge; numerous nieces and nephews; and step daughter, Gail (Jim) Mizeres.
A graduate of Yale University Class of 1946 and the Navy V-12 Program, Don served during World War II in the U.S. Navy on the USS Direct AM 90. He was employed by the B.F. Goodrich Co., Akron Standard Mold Co., and Stan Hywet Hall Foundation and did volunteer work with AARP as a Volunteer Income Tax Preparer for 25 years and Junior Achievement Counselor for 12 years. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Adoniram-Joppa Masonic Lodge (now Star Lodge # 187) and a life member of the Firestone VFW Post # 3383.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Messiah Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeff Hancock officiating, where friends may call at the church 1 hour before. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery in Mogadore with military honors conducted by Firestone VFW Post # 3383. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, 4700 S.
