Donna L Russo

Donna Lee Russo, 78, went home to the Lord on May 21, 2014 after a short illness.

She was born on October 3, 1935 to Lawrence Sullivan and Anne Strecker in Akron, Ohio. She was married to her loving husband John Russo for 40 years. Donna graduated from the University of Akron with a degree in Elementary Education.

Donna retired from teaching at St. Sebastian's School. She enjoyed sharing stories about her students and experiences as a teacher. She was a parishioner at St. Sebastian Church and a proud member of the Praise and Worship Ensemble. She treasured her time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She loved them with all her heart. They will greatly miss her. Donna was a strong woman, who advocated for others and enjoyed writing many letters to the editor on issues she was passionate about. She loved her dogs and their constant companionship.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, sister Patti Armour, brother Billy Sullivan and husband John Russo. She is survived by Step-Father Robert Strecker, siblings; Pepper Sullivan (Becky), Becki Eldredge (Chet), Debi Adams (Bug); daughters; Peggy McClellan (Marty), Laura (David) Pietenpol, Jenny Wilson (Chad), Laniece Russo (Steven); grandchildren, Dominic and Shelby Wilson, Emma Weahry, Shannon and Ryan Pavlic and Cayden Ramoz. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Becki and Chet Eldredge for the care and support they provided to Donna.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, May 28th at St. Sebastian's Catholic Church, 476 Mull Ave. Akron. Interment will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27th at the Billow Fairlawn Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Sebastian's Elementary School.
