Dorothy E. Stroh Bauer, 95, died peacefully December 6, 2008 after a two-year illness.

Born in Akron on November 4, 1913, she lived her entire life in Akron and graduated from North High School. Dorothy was a volunteer at Akron City Hospital and the past president of the Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary Lodge #1. She was a member of the Akron Police Retirees and Widows, Chapter 25 and a member of Grace United Church of Christ of Norton.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, John; parents, John and Maude Dixon Bauer; brothers, Edward Bauer, King Bauer; sisters, Alice Snowden, Margaret McIntyre; long time friend and special sister-in-law, Esther Bauer; brother and sister-in-law, Barbara and Peter Pletzer. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Mary David Redle; son, John F. Kathleen Stroh of Michigan; brother, Walter Virginia Bauer; sister-in-law, Margaret Bauer; grandchildren, John Jackie, James Marilyn, Kristen, Erin, Katie, Meghan; great grandchildren, Hannah, Margaret, Sarah, Taylor, Caitlin, Abigail, Madeline; many nieces, nephews and close friends; especially Dorothy's niece Pat and Jack Price, who provided Dorothy with additional love and support.

The family would like so extend a special thanks to Dorothy's loving caregivers; June, Bonnie, Bev, Debbie and Joan. In addition, many thanks to the Summa Palliative and Hospice Care Program at Cuyahoga Falls General especially the staff of 3 West and Dr. Christine Hudak.

Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron with Dr. Donard M. Engle officiating. Burial at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park. Friends may call 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Akron, 245 Locust St., Akron, OH 44302.
