Dorothy L Evans

Dorothy L. Evans, 86 years 11 months, died Friday, May 3, 2013.

She received her Bachelor's of Arts degree in Education K-12 and English and a minor in Art from Wittenberg University where she was a member of Alpha Zeta Delta Sorority. She taught art, music and English in the public schools for 19 years and loved children and helping the underprivileged. She was a member of PEO, a 50 year member of the First United Methodist Church of Akron, volunteered at First Night Akron and with Meals on Wheels for 20 years. Mrs. Evans loved being outdoors, walking in the woods, sketching, drawing, traveling, and taking pictures of everything.

She is survived by husband of 64 years, Harold; 3 children and their spouses; 11 grandchildren; and 7 ½ great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Dr. Allan Bevere officiating. Friends may call at the funeral 1 hour before services. Private inurnment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of VNS, c/o Akron General Foundation, 400 Wabash Ave., Akron 44307.
