Dorothy Kehrle nee Workman
Dorothy Lorena Kehrle died on April 2, 2009 at Rockynol in Akron, Ohio, after living 102 good years.
She was born on a farm near Beallsville, Ohio on May 6, 1906. Her family moved to Akron in 1915, where she graduated from West High School and started to work as a secretary at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. In 1927, she married Floyd J. Kehrle who also worked at Goodyear and they raised three sons.
During the war she went back to Goodyear as a secretary. After both of their retirements from Goodyear, she and her husband traveled extensively and did a lot of volunteer work; in the public schools, the Cancer Society, an organization called FISH and their church. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, the AARP bridge club, several other bridge clubs and was a member of the Akron Woman's City Club and the Goodyear Blue & Gold Club. She loved playing bridge, needlepoint, quilting and reading.
Her husband of 68 years and their son Jerry preceded her in death. Dorothy is survived by sons James Belinda of Lexington, Ohio and Michael Carolyn of Powell, Ohio; and daughter-in-law Nancy Kehrle of Kalamazoo, Mich., as well as nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of St. Paul's Episcopal Church on Friday, April 17 at 11 a.m.. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1361 W. Market St, Akron, OH 44313 or to a charity of your choice. Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel
