Dorothy S. Wright nee Season, 93, died October 29, 2010.
Born October 14, 1917 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio she was a graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School and Kent State University. She was an elementary school teacher retired from the Cuyahoga Falls School System. She also taught in Stow, Green and Oberlin, Ohio and was named a Jennings Scholar in 1967. She was a member of the Women's Committee of the University of Akron, the Women's Board of Akron Children's Hospital, Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, Hower House Victorians and the First Congregational Church of Akron.
Dorothy was preceded in death by husbands, Everett C. Shingleton and W. Richard Wright and brother, Gerald Season. She is survived by sisters, Hester Peterson of Charlotte, N.C. and Julia Tidyman of San Antonio, Texas; daughters, Susan Gerberich James of Wadsworth, Jeanne Koeppel Douglas of Arizona/New Mexico; step-daughter, Elizabeth Gray of Atlanta; two grandchildren, John E. McLaughlin Yenny and Kara L. Bhakuni; two step-grandchildren, Greg Lenihan and Whitney Lenihan; two great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Elice McLaughlin.
A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. THURSDAY, November 11th, at the First Congregational Church of Akron, 292 E. Market St., with Rev. Duane Angel officiating. Private inurnment at Oakwood Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the W. Richard Wright Internship, c/o The Ray C.
