Dr. Gerard G. Gingras, M.D.
Dr. Gerard G. Gingras, M.D., 79, went home to be with the Lord March 31, 2009.
Born in Montreal, Canada, he lived all of his adult life in Ohio. Gerard attended McGill University in Montreal from 1948-1952 and majored in Mathematics and Physics. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha. He attended Medical School at Ottawa University from 1952-1955 and did his internship at St. Thomas Hospital in Akron from 1955-1958 and then his residency from 1958-1961 at Duke University in Durham, N.C. Gerard had a private practice in Akron and was the former Chief of Staff at AGMC. After retirement, he taught at NEOUCOM. He was actively involved in many medical associations and volunteer organizations. He was a member of The Chapel and his life was devoted to helping others.
He is survived by sons, Robert Terry, David Gingras; daughters, Elizabeth Mahoney Gingras, Beverly Rick Reaven Gingras, Barbara Gingras Cindy Royce; grandchildren, Emily Reaven, Trevor and Hunter Gingras, Erin and Antonio Mahoney; brother, Michael Florette Gingras; special friend, Isabel Hershberger; and many other loving relatives and friends. We love you dad and we will miss you.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. SATURDAY at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron, with Rev. Eloy Pacheco officiating. Inurnment at Rose Hill Burial Park at a later date. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. FRIDAY at the funeral home. If desired, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
