Edna Moomaw

Edna Moomaw (nee Frost), 89, passed away December 22, 2012

Born in Galax, VA, she had been an Akron area resident since 1950. Edna earned an AA Degree from Hiawassee College in Madisonville, TN a BA from LaGrange College in LaGrange, GA and a MA Degree from the University of Akron. She was a member of the Phi Beta Scholastic Fraternity and Alpha Phi Omega Dramatic Fraternity. A speech and hearing pathologist, she had a life time membership in the American Speech Language Association, the United Education Association and the Ohio Education Association. Edna was a member of the Akron Association of University Women, City Club of Akron, Summit County Federation of Democratic Women, Friends of Hower House and Hower House Victorians, Cuyahoga/Portage Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, College Club of Akron, Akron Woman's City Club, Humane Society, and Living Hope United Methodist Church in Norton. She was past president of the Wadsworth Education Association and of the Business and Professional Women's Association. After working as a social worked for 11 years, Edna retired with 26 years service from the Wadsworth City Schools as a speech language pathologist.

Preceded in death by husband, Ray E. Moomaw; parents, Nettie and Harley C. Frost; brother, Harry Ray Frost; and sisters, Faye Delp and Ola Edwards; she is survived by her daughter, Loretta Wagner (Robert J.); granddaughter, Christina Jeanette Wagner; grandson, Robert E. Wagner; sister, Evelyn Melton (Howard); many other family members and friends.

Services will be held 11 a.m. SATURDAY at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Interment at Paradise Cemetery in Smithville.
