Edward Ralph "Ted" Williams Jr., 76, of Medina passed away on Monday, March 9, 2015.
Ted attended Buchtel High School, Class of 1956. A veteran of the US Army National Guard, Ted attended Akron University and Ohio University as a swimmer and "occasional student." He returned to Akron as a manufacturer's representative for the Myer Company and was the founder of Ted Williams Enterprises. He was actively involved in the youth soccer community as a coach in Highland Youth Soccer, president of the Greater Akron Amateur Soccer Association (GAASA), president of Ohio Youth Soccer Association North (OYSAN). His favorite passion was as the field manager of the "Williams Field of Dreams".
In his youth, Ted enjoyed sunny days on his boat at Portage Lakes or on the golf course at Portage Country Club. Later, he enjoyed tinkering in his beloved shed, picking for treasures, demolishing and rebuilding walls within his farm house, crafting new inventions and sharing his "wisdom" with his family, buddies and anybody that would listen. He was known for sharing stories, incredible personality and loving everyone with a grouchy face. His "bigger than life" personality will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Preceded in death by his parents, Edward Ralph Williams Sr. and Bernice Shrimplin Williams and his sister, Marilyn Williams Redmond; he is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Mary Ann Ritenour Williams; children, Jennifer (Brian) Cholewa and Edward R. (Kelly) Williams III; grandchildren, Madden, Ella, Griffin and Vivian Williams and Maxximus Cholewa as well as his nephew, James (Marianne) Redmond; niece, Kelly (David) Smithers and his faithful canine companion, Swenson.
