Edwin J. "Jerry" Porter

Edwin J. "Jerry" Porter, age 90, of Akron passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Akron General Medical Center.
Born April 13, 1923 in Wadsworth, he was the son of Charlie and Hallie (Mohn) Porter. Jerry served as a Military Policeman with the U.S. Army during WW II. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service his entire life until he retired. Jerry was an enthusiastic reader of all things concerning the Civil War, an avid Chess player, and loved all animals, even the trotters.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Bessie "Mickey" Porter in 1997 and a brother Bob and Jim.
Survivors include nephew Rick and great nephew Mark
Friends will be received at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd, from 10-11AM on Thursday, April 10, 2014 where services will be held at 11:00AM. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
