Our loving matriarch, Elaine M. Neil, 84, peacefully departed this world April 22, 2009 and joined her Lord in Heaven.

Elaine was preceded in death by her adoring husband of 45 years, Matthew G. Neil and Candy DiFiore, her loving sister. She is survived by her loving family: daughters, Kathy Musser and Lynn Schwanauer Frazi; grandchildren, John Morley and Melissa Ralston John; great-grandchildren, John Ralston II Danielle, Justina Flournoy and Matthew Ralston; sister-in-law, Arpha Kay; nieces and nephews, Maggi Jorgensen Gene, Jack DiFiore Judy, Sandy Griffith Richard, Linda Scott Walter; and eight great-nieces and nephews.

Elaine is also survived by her loving friend, James Hooper; caring friend, Clayton Hine; special friends, Victor and Paula Ballert, Jack and Cheryl Bergman; two Godsons,, Andy and Ben Bergman; and her ever faithful companion, "Miss Kitty."

Elaine was a vibrant and active woman who was loved by all who knew her. She was known for her kind heart and her beauty both inside and out.

Elaine was a longtime member of Montrose Zion United Methodist Church, where she served in the nursery and taught Sunday school. Elaine had been active in the community; she served on the board at Weathervane, delivered Mobile Meals, was a Brownie leader, PTA president at McEbright Elementary School, was an usher for the Akron Symphony and was a longtime member of PEO.

Elaine enjoyed life and lived every moment to the fullest. She enjoyed running with the "Walkie Talkies" and ran the Revco 10K in her 70th year of life. She relished her Friday morning "Rocky's Group" with her neighborhood girlfriends; they met for over two decades. Elaine cherished the time she spent with her friends from the Good Grief Group. She had a love for the arts and was an accomplished sculptor and creative artist. She was an avid gardener; she inherited her love of flowers from her father. Elaine was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. SATURDAY at Montrose Zion United Methodist Church, 565 N. Cleveland-Massillon Rd., with Rev. Dr. Walter S. Chisholm officiating at Elaine's request, those attending the service are asked to wear something pink. Private inurnment at Rose Hill Burial Park. The family will receive friends following the service at church.
