Eleanor "Elly" Reich Griffith

Eleanor "Elly" Reich Griffith, 91, passed away peacefully at home on October 31, 2016. Elly was born September 13, 1925 in Ft. Worth, Texas, to Bruno and Hulda Reich.
Elly graduated from Paschal High School, then H. Sophie Newcomb College in 1945 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She was a devoted wife and mother, a talented artist, actively involved over the years with Theta Alumni, Witan, Summit County Children Services (Akron Childrens' Home), PTA, Marco Island Art League, and a member of Bath United Church of Christ. She also served as Secretary and administrative assistant to the family business, ComDoc. Spreading joy everywhere, always giving more than taking, she was the preferred vacation destination of her 4 children, 12 grandchildren and friends, plus a favorite mom and friend to many.
Preceded in death by her husband, Walter, of 62 years, and siblings, Brunhilde and Ahdel, she is loved and survived by her children, Catherine (Stephen) Leuenberger, Barbara (Riley) Lochridge, Walter (Cassi) Griffith and Amy (Brad) Bowers, grandchildren Riley and Kyle Lochridge, Whitney Hinshaw, Curtis, Elizabeth and Marne Leuenberger, Candice, Kaitlan and Nathan Griffith, Kallen, Bennett and Natalie Bowers, along with two great-grandchildren, Noelle ("Elly") and Hailey. This cherished "yellow rose of Texas" was fun, truly kind, selfless, warm, generous and had a radiant smile that lit up the room. Her positive spirit, self-effacing humor and accepting nature will be sorely missed by all.
A memorial service is planned for January 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bath United Church of Christ with calling hours beginning at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Walter Griffith Education Fund at Keybank, 219 S. Main St., Akron, OH 44308 or Bath Church, designating the Mission Board in the memo line, at 3980 W. Bath Rd., Akron, OH 44333.
