“She’s a little wildflower, with a lot of warrior underneath.”
Elise Tabet McLaughlin, 26, of Green, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, in Long Beach, California.
Elise “Ellie” was the beloved daughter of Alicia Tabet, John McLaughlin (Yenny), and Robert (Angie) Hoose; adored sister to Lexi McLaughlin, Mackenzie Hoose, and Everett McLaughlin; and cherished step-sister to Josie Christie and Keegan Christie; proud Aunt to nephews Tristan & Rory; and leaves behind loving Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and many friends across the country and around the world.
Ellie graduated from Green High School, where she was a Varsity Cheerleader for Basketball and Football. She was a proud member of the North East Ohio Allstars growing up. She attended both Kent State University and the California University of Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh, where she also resided while working to put herself through school. Ellie moved to Orange County California in December of 2021 where she was working to start a new life and was planning on attending school this spring.
Those who knew Ellie, even just a little, know that she was a bright light in a sometimes dark world, and we have all lost a shining light in our lives. Ellie loved to sing along to her favorite songs and make her friends laugh and smile. She was a loving and compassionate person who never met a stranger, and would strike up a conversation with even the most timid person. She had the most beautiful smile that could light up your soul. Once you met her, you truly never forgot her – you had a friend for life.
The relationship she had with her family and friends was unlike any other. Most of all, she loved and adored her nephews; they were her world. If you were lucky enough to be present when Ellie gazed into their faces, the pure joy radiating from her would blind you. She wanted nothing more than for them to have a wonderful life.
She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Robert McLaughlin; long time nanny, Sandra Kay Smith; and many great grandparents. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Huntington Beach, California at 4:30 p.m. on TUESDAY November 29th on the sand by the main Huntington Beach Pier for a sunset ceremony. Following the Celebration, a reception for family and friends will be held at Fred’s Mexican Cafe , where Ellie was a server.
