Elizabeth Anne Clark

Elizabeth Anne (Self) (Maupin) Clark passed away, on Sunday, March 9, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Clark in 2010; and by her sister, Jane Hales.

She was born in Norwalk, OH to Morris and Thelma (Crosby) Self in 1938. She is survived by her children, Beth (Craig) Hyle, Jay (Scott) Maupin, and Krista (David) Szalay; grandchildren, Laura Hyle, Ben Hyle, Corey Hyle, Alex (Kayla) Szalay, and Matt (Chelsea) Szalay; four great grandchildren; niece, Lori (John) Hales; and nephew, Bruce Hales.

She was a graduate of Clearview High School, Lorain, OH and attended Kent State University. She enjoyed floral design in continuing education while employed at Kent State. She then opened a store, “Creations by Elizabeth Clark” in Kent, where she specialized in custom floral design.

She was an active member of Kent United Church of Christ since 1964, where she served as a nursery school teacher, impacting the lives of students for many years. She was active for 20 years in The Women’s Club of Kent, where she served on many committees. While vice president, she portrayed the life of poet Emily Dickinson, giving the performance 12 times to area organizations. She was a member of Kent Coterie since 1983, serving as president in 2003/4 – 2004/5. She was an active member and volunteer of The Cuyahoga Valley Art Center, taking art classes there for many years. She was also a member of Women’s Art League of Akron and enjoyed painting and won many awards throughout the years. She was a highly creative person in all aspects of her life.
