Elizabeth Fitzwater Cooper age 95, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 25, 2021. A lifelong resident of Akron, Ohio, Liz graduated from East High School in 1943 and later went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Akron in 1954. She spent many rewarding years working as an Executive Secretary and Sales/Service Coordinator for Allied-Signal Corporation retiring in 1992 after 30 years of service. Traveling was a passion for Liz. She and her husband Bill visited many exciting places together and after his death in 1993, she continued those adventures with her group of globetrotting companions. She also delighted in a tasty Swenson’s burger, listening to Tony Bennett, watching a good movie or taking in a show on Broadway. Liz truly cherished her family and friends. There is nothing she wouldn’t do for them and always had an open heart and a compassionate ear. She never judged, she only loved. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hattie and George Clyde Fitzwater, her husband, William T. Cooper, and step-son, W. Fred Cooper. Fondly called G.G. by her 12 great grandchildren, she is also survived by her step-children, Andrew (Margaret) Cooper, Mary Kay Jones, Julie (Gary) Getsinger and daughter-in-laws Nancy Adamson (Fred) Cooper and Nancy Hough Hower. She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Katrina (Trevor) Lyke, Drew (Darci) Cooper, Sandra (James) Selvitelli, Rob (Ashley) Cooper, Jennifer (Gary) Scott and Jaclyn (Justin) Richards. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ohio Living Rockynol Assisted Living and Crossroads Hospice for all their love, care and support. A gathering of friends and family to celebrate Elizabeth’s life will take place later this year.
