Elizabeth Katherine Fischer

Elizabeth Katherine Schill Fischer, 96, was born August 18, 1915 and passed away on April 21, 2012 after two years of declining health.

Called "Leese" by her family, she was born in Akron and graduated from South High School. In 1941, she married the love of her life, Richard Fischer. During their 49 year marriage, they lived in Steubenville, Ohio where both had long careers with the Steubenville Ice Plant. After Richard's death in 1990, Leese returned to Akron and enjoyed her affiliations with Woodland United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She also volunteered at the Haven of Rest and was a part of their Women's Auxiliary.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Christian and Martha (Bubeck) Schill; sisters, Marie Rockefeller, Helen Frease, Lucille McAleese, Ruth Schill, Martha Hyatt and Miriam Killian; brothers, Willard and Russell; and sister-in-law, Juanita Fischer Geis.

She will be greatly missed by sister, Edna Schill along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Service will be held at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel on Saturday, April 28 at 1 p.m., with the Reverend Debbie Gibbons officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Interment following at Mt. Peace Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Haven of Rest Ministries or Woodland United Methodist Church.
