Elizabeth E. 'Betty' Peabody, 93, died October 17, 2009.
Born in Rutherford, N.J., she was an Akron area resident for over sixty years. Betty was very proud to have served as a WAC during World War II. An active community volunteer, she served with Stan Hywet Hall, Hale Farm and Village, the Akron Canton Food Bank and the Salvation Army. She was a sixty year member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she served actively in many ways. Betty loved to travel with her husband and later with her friends and had retired as a private secretary for Hugh Eaton in 1998.
Preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. Peabody; she is survived by her children, Robert Darla, Kenneth Barbara and William Diana; grandchildren, Malinda, Joshua and Emma.
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 11 a.m. WEDNESDAY with Rev. David Pumphrey officiating. A reception will follow in the Church Parlor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Akron Canton Food Bank, the Hospice Care Center or Stan Hywet Hall Foundation.
