Elizabeth Lipousky Smith

Elizabeth Lipousky Smith, 88, passed away on November 23, 2018.

She was born on August 12, 1930 in Westville, Illinois and was the fifth of six children to Ukrainian immigrants Michael and Mary (Rokoweski) Lipousky. Elizabeth met her husband of 60 years, Gordon Smith, through a mutual friend while he was a student at the University of Illinois and they married shortly after his graduation in 1954. After several relocations, they eventually settled in Richfield, Ohio in 1960 where they raised their four children and resided for the next 55 years surrounded by their children and twelve grandchildren. She was a devoted member of St. Victor Catholic Church in Richfield, Ohio.

She is survived by brothers, Nick, George (Rose), and Frank Lipousky; sister, Anne Stal; children, Anne (Doug) Schwan, Mike (Vicki) Smith, Paul (Liz) Smith, Jim (Peggy) Smith; grandchildren, Ben (Andi) Schwan, Katie (Mason) Milani, Lauren Smith, Andy (Katie) Smith, Erin (Jesse) Minnick, Clara (Amar) Vagadia, Megan Smith, Ryan (Samantha) Smith, Eric Smith, Luke Schwan, Ethan Smith; and great grandchildren, Noah, Rosalie, Caleb, Miles, Daniel, Leonardo, and Cassidy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Smith; brother, Charlie Lipousky; and grandson, Matthew Smith.

She often said she was lucky to have a good family, but we all know it was not luck but her lifelong examples of love, kindness, humility, and hard work. She had immense love for her family and will be greatly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. FRIDAY at St. Victor Catholic Church, 3435 Everett Rd., Richfield, OH 44286 with Rev. Fr. Allen Corrigan officiating. Calling hours will be held 1 hour prior to the service at church. Burial will follow at West Richfield Cemetery. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
