Elizabeth “Betsy” Buzby Emack, 97, died September 9, 2022.
Born February 10, 1925 in Atlantic City, NJ to J. Howard and Elizabeth D. Gage Buzby, she was a graduate of Westtown School, Westtown, PA and Rutgers University, NJ. She was a birthright member of the Society of Friends (Quaker). On April 23, 1949, she married John B. Emack and they moved to Akron with Goodyear in 1952.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church since 1953 where she served in many areas including Vestry Clerk, Senior Warden, Altar Guild and teacher. In the Akron community she served: Akron General Medical Center Service League and Women’s Board (President); the Louise Sumner Board; Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service volunteer; and Braille Workshop volunteer.
Preceded in death by her husband, Jack, March 2, 2006; she is survived by her son, John H. Emack, daughter, Libby Bohanon (David); nephews, RADM. Mark H. Buzby (Gina) and David G. Buzby (Carol); grandniece, Elizabeth; grandnephew, George; nephew, Ted Emack (Jeannie); nieces, Bebe George (Harry), Peggy Forman (Bob), Ann Brown (Charlie) and Betsy Taylor (Tony Jackson); sister-in-law, Henrietta Emack.
Services will be held TUESDAY, September 20 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1361 W. Market St., with Rev. Susan Tiffany and Rev. Sandra Selby officiating. Private Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Visiting Nurse Service, 1 Akron General Ave., Akron, OH 44307-2463 or The Humane Society of Summit County, 7996 Darrow Rd., Twinsburg 44087.
