Elsie Heilman Consilio, surrounded by her family, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2015.
Elsie was born in Akron, Ohio on February 19, 1937 to Emil and Hilda Heilman. She graduated from Garfield High School and later the University of Akron with a Master's Degree in Education. She was an educator for the City of Chicago and Revere High School. While employed by the Revere Local School District, she was awarded the prestigious Jennings Scholar Award. Elsie was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she actively served on the Altar and Flower Guilds. She was also an active alumni of The University of Akron Chapter of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald James; and her parents, Emil and Hilda Heilman. She is survived by her children, Caroline (Darrell) Evans, John (Lisa) Consilio and Craig Consilio. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Cathleen, Christopher, Grant, Clark, Will, Tyler and Nicholas. Also among her loved ones are her brother, Paul (Jackie) Heilman; brother in-law, Vince (Joyce) Consilio; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A private burial will be held. A Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1361 W. Market St., with Rev. Mark J. Pruitt officiating. There will be a luncheon at St. Paul's immediately following the Memorial Service. The Elsie Heilman Consilio Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established to honor Elsie's love and dedication to her sorority, Alpha Delta Pi at the University of Akron. In memory, contributions may be sent to Alpha Delta Pi Foundation, 1836 Ponce de Leon Ave NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30306. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
