Elsie Barbara (Herget) Feudner died January 27, 2014. Born February 29, 1912 in Akron, Ohio to Elizabeth and John V. Herget, she was the eighth of nine children.
Elsie graduated from South High School in 1931 and studied art and design at Akron University. She married John Feudner in 1936, and they lived happily together in Akron for 59 years until his death in 1996.
Elsie was a member of Witan and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and their Altar Guild. Elsie loved to play cards and usually won. A master of arts and crafts, Elsie created dollhouse miniatures, Christmas ornaments, handbags, costumes, paintings, and home decor--all with exquisite detail. She enjoyed golf (and loved telling the story of hitting a hole-in-one), socializing with friends, and spending winters in Longboat Key, Florida with her husband.
Predeceasing Elsie were her husband, John L. Feudner, Jr.; sisters, Lillian Grossmayer, Louise Kaiser, Mina Hill, Marie Backderf, and Margaret Jackson; brothers, David Herget, William Herget, and Jack Herget; and nephew, Richard Backderf.
She is survived by her children, John Feudner (Susannah), Barbara Schaal (Stephen), and Jean Machamer (Robert); grandchildren, Kathryn Cooper (Keith), Michael Schaal (Nazhat), Susan Messer (Doug), John Jefferson Feudner and Catherine Feudner, Christine Ewald, and Stephen Ewald (Maggie); great grandchildren, Jamie, Julia, and Dylan Cooper, Anna, Lydia, Michael and Charlie Messer, Stephen and Nadine Ewald, Benjamin Feudner, Simon and Sarina Schaal. Other survivors include her sister-in-law, Nancy Hartz and several nieces and nephews, including Maryanne Backderf and Susan Herget.
Elsie will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held 4:30 pm on Saturday, February 1st at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Friends may call 4-6 p.m. Friday, January 31st at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron, Ohio 44333. In lieu of flowers, gifts of memory may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 50 N. Prospect St., Akron, Ohio 44304 or the John L.
