Emil A Voelz

Emil A. Voelz, 86, passed away March 4, 2016 at his home.

Born in Danube, Minnesota to Emil and Lydia Voelz on November 28, 1929. He was a graduate of Colorado College, attended the University of Minnesota, University of Georgia, and the graduate school of Indiana University.

He came to Akron to work for Goodyear Aircraft. Later he joined Akron Savings then TransOhio and Great Northern Financial. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he was a single engine jet pilot instructor.

There were many organizations in the community he was involved with including, Blue Coats, Boy Scouts, Junior Achievement, Haven of Rest, Akron Roundtable, and others.

Emil is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, La Vonne; sons, Jeffrey and David; daughter, Anne (Robert) Woodward; grandchildren, Jeffrey Voelz, Anna Voelz, Abigail, Joshua, and Lydia Woodward; many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Wednesday, March 9, from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Billow Fairlawn Chapel, 85 N Miller Rd., Akron, OH 44333. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 10, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Schneider officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park.
