Emogene Santschi, 82, passed away on May 27, 2009. She and her beloved husband, William, are singing together in heaven, with their dog Rosie nipping at their heels.

She was born in Akron, and lived most of her life in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. In 1945 she graduated from West High School. Emogene began her studies at Kent State University, and graduated with an art degree from the University of Akron while raising her family. She belonged to Theta Upsilon Sorority, which later became Delta Zeta. Mrs. Santschi taught preschool for over fifteen years at Westminster Presbyterian Church. She belonged to the Akron Woman's City Club. A former member of First Grace United Church of Christ, she served as president of the Altar Circle and the Women's Guild. Currently she was a member of First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls.

Emogene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Having fun with her family and friends was her greatest joy. She taught her children to love God and appreciate the arts. Her creativity permeated everything that she touched. She enjoyed the playing the piano, singing, writing, and sewing. Spring was her favorite season because of the rebirth of all the beautiful colors in nature. One could see these bright colors in her clothing, hats, and home. Shopping was a favorite pastime, as was dressing up in costume for parties. She shared her love for life with everyone she met. She was a beautiful woman inside and out, a class act. Her positive spirit during her illness was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Emogene was born to E.C. and Iola DeLazier Brewer on May 1, 1927. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, William Tell Santschi, who passed away on March 25, 2009, and brothers, Richard and Gernard Brewer; she is survived by her sister, Minnalu Riley and sister-in-law, Kay Santschi; daughters, Linda and Carol Santschi; grandchildren, Melissa Greg Morgan, Megan Tom LoParo and Mitch Firis; great-grandchildren, Danny, Dominic and Emilee LoParo, Ian and Jacob Morgan, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Rev. Marvin Brown officiating. Interment at Mt. Peace Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Donations may be made in Emogene's name to the Gifts and Memorial Fund, The First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls, 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221 or the Salvation Army, 190 S.
