Eric T. Tyson passed away Wednesday January 17, 2024 after a sudden and severe illness.
Eric was a life-long resident of the Akron area, born April 20 1963 to David & Sandra Tyson. He grew up in nearby Bath, OH, graduating from Revere High School. He attended the University of Dayton and the University of Akron.
He spent his career in electronics, a love he developed at an early age when he built his own oscilloscope and computer in the early 1970’s. He worked in Silicon Valley in the early 1990’s, but returned to Akron where he spent the remainder of his life, working with interesting and complex systems.
Eric had a lifetime love of his family and friends, with some friendships established in early grade school, and many others along his path in life. He knew how to make friends and keep them. He loved getting together with his friends, high school, reunions, alumni marching band, concerts, and helping them with anything they needed, but he took particular joy in preparing, presenting and sharing a meal with them.
On May 2, 1998 he married the love of his life, Cynthia Powrie. They settled on Foursome Ave in Akron, coincidently across the street from his parents’ house when they were first married. Eric and Cynthia lived in the house Cynthia grew up in and Eric was proud and fastidious in making improvements to their home.
Eric is survived by his wife Cynthia Tyson, his brother David Z Tyson, Jr. (Martha Wolf) of Wilmette, IL and Sister Andrea Tyson Parker of Akron OH, his sister-in-law Linda Powrie. Eric is also survived by his nieces and Nephews, Catherine Tyson (Scott), Andrew Parker, David Z Tyson III, and Nathan Parker (Nicole), Elizabeth Magid (Mark), Scott Powrie (Leigh). Eric was very close to and is survived by his aunt Eleanor Tyson, and his cousins, Peter Tyson (Sandy), Ann Tyson Williamson (Curt), Judy Tyson Mackanic (Jim), Jean Tyson Schneider, Bruce Smith (Ann), Mimi Wells and his goddaughter Elizabeth Smith.
He was preceded by his father David and mother Sandra, his sister Beth Tyson Fitzhugh and her husband Ned, his uncle William H Tyson Jr and his cousin William H Tyson III.
A special thank-you to the fine care he received at Akron Summa Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Main and the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center.
