Esther Elizabeth Kunce
CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Esther Elizabeth Kunce, 82, passed away on June 6, 2013 after a brief illness.
Esther was born March 24, 1931 to James & Fania (Fanny) McNeill in Washington, D.C., where she attended grade school and junior high school. She moved to Erie, PA in 1945, graduated from Erie East High School, with honors in 1949. Upon graduation, Esther worked at Erie Insurance Exchange until moving to Cuyahoga Falls, OH with her mother in 1953. She then worked at IBM in Akron, where she met her husband of 57 years, Clyde Kunce.
They married in November 26, 1955. Prior to raising her children, she worked at the City of Cuyahoga Falls and Vaughn Machinery until 1961.
In the Cuyahoga Falls community, Esther was active with First United Methodist Church and was a 50-year member of Chapter #245 Order of Eastern Star. She served on various committees with the City of Cuyahoga Falls school levies, Cuyahoga Falls Little League Baseball, and Little Black Tiger Pee Wee Football. Esther was also involved in the creation of the Summit County Choral Society and most recently, enjoyed working at the Board of Elections and serving as a presiding judge poll worker. She touched many lives, especially those parents and children who came through her doors over the years.
Esther was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Clyde; loving sons, David (Cindy), Michael & Paul; along with five wonderful grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Nathaniel, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Emma & Audrey. Esther also had a special and unique bond with cousins, Kim Ede (Tim), Michele Allio (Mark), Alan Valendza (Laura), and Todd Valendza (Lisa), along with their respective children.
Friends may call on Thursday, June 13 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Billow FALLS Chapel, 1907 23rd Street, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 14 at 11a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221 with Rev. Dr. David A. Baker presiding. Interment at Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221 or the Allio Family Fund at the Akron Community Foundation, 345 W.
