Esther Heepe Purdy

Esther Heepe Purdy, 92, passed away peacefully September 10, 2016 at Laurel Lake Retirement Center where she had lived for the past 16 years. She was born in Akron to the late William and Nina Zintel Heepe, the youngest of their 7 children. Her brother and sisters have all preceded her in death. She married her high school sweetheart Richard William Purdy. They were married for 43 years until his death in 1985. She is survived by her three children; Carol (Don) Groninger of Franklin, TN, Richard Purdy of Dallas, TX, and Ellen (David) Heindel of Hudson. She has 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Esther was a loving wife and mother and enjoyed many activities with her family which included traveling, entertaining, and church, school and social activities. She especially enjoyed being with family and having fun.

Es moved to Hudson as a widow in 1985. She remained active in bowling, golf, bridge, club, and church activities. She was a member of Questors, and the PEO Sisterhood. She continued to enjoy entertaining and travel and helped form the Golden Girls, a group of active and fun loving women who enjoyed going out to dinner, the theater, or doing anything which was entertaining. Es truly enjoyed being with people.

She had been a resident of Laurel Lake since 2000. She was very happy there and continued to enjoy socializing with the many friends she made. She thrived under the quality of care she received at Laurel Lake.

A reception for friends of Esther and the family will be on Friday, September 16 from 1:30 to 3PM at Laurel Lake, 200 Laurel Lake Drive, Hudson, OH 44236. Private interment at Rose Hill Burial Park in Fairlawn. In lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer's Association would be welcomed. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 330-867-4141)
