Dr. Ethan D. Schafer, age 39, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 8, 2015.
Born November 21, 1975 in Pittsfield, MA., he was the son of Joseph and Gaile (Reynolds) Schafer.
Ethan earned his Bachelor's degree at his beloved University of Michigan, to which he was a passionate supporter and fan. He went on to attend Case Western Reserve University where he earned his Masters and Doctorate degrees as well as becoming an Adjunct Professor.
His love of children was demonstrated not only through his private practice of Child Psychology, but through his work at both Lawrence and the University School; also, his love for Camp Pemigewassett in New Hampshire led him to further serve and support the camping community in numerous professional capacities.
Besides his parents, Ethan is survived by his wife of 7 years, Kelly Gesaman; sons, Andrew "Andy" and Adam; his brother, Justin (Michele) Schafer; and sister, Amber Schafer-McCloud; many nephews and nieces, as well as many other relatives and friends who loved him and was dearly loved by him.
Friends will be received at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron, Ohio 44333, on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church, 2726 W. Market St., Fairlawn, Ohio with Reverend Jean Hansen officiating. Private burial services will follow for the immediate family.
