E. Jeanne Herman Doncaster
AKRON, OH -- E. Jeanne Herman Doncaster died September 27, 2008.
Born July 2, 1920, she spent most of her life in Westmoreland County, Pa., retiring to Worton, Md. in 1986 to enjoy Maryland's Eastern shore. Jeanne was a class officer at Greensburg Salem High School '38 and registered nurse trained at Allegheny General in Pittsburgh. She was a member of Foothills Amateur Radio Club KA3CEO, Young Ladies Radio, Westmoreland Women's Medical Auxiliary and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. In earlier years, she enjoyed volleyball, skeet shooting, and snow skiing. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed boating on the Chesapeake Bay. She brought joy to others with her laugh and sharp sense of humor, knitting, and love of animals.
She was preceded in death by parents, John Ervin and Frances Willard Grable Herman; niece, Frances Ann Herman; sister-in-law, Marjorie Walker Doncaster and sister and brother-in-law, Alexander John and Nancy Jayne Doncaster Macdonald. Surviving is her husband of 62 years, Richard M. Doncaster, M.D.; brother, John Willard Herman Jane of Greensburg, Pa.; brother-in-law, Rev. William Trall Doncaster, PhD., Somerset PA/Richmond VA; son, Richard M. Doncaster Jr. Sarah of Akron, Ohio; granddaughter, Laura Jeanne Doncaster; and five nieces, and one nephew.
Memorial service will be held 10 a.m. October 11, at The First Presbyterian Church, Greensburg, Pa. Rev. Martin Ankrum officiating. Family visitation Sunday October 19 at 2-5 P.M. at the Main Stay, Rock Hall, Md. Donations may be made in Jeanne's name to The Mainstay, 5753 Main St, Rock Hall, Md. 21661, 410 639-9133.
