Eugene E. Nofsinger

Eugene E. Nofsinger , 88 went to his heavenly home on Thursday, September 19, 2024. He was a beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great grandpa. Born August 30, 1936 to Howard and Hazel (Berry) Nofsinger, he lived in the Akron/Hartville area for most of his life. He married his sweetheart Colleen (Harris) Nofsinger  on May 24, 1959.

Eugene was a graduate of South High School and received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Akron. He taught in the Akron Public Schools and served as an administrator in the Copley-Fairlawn and Revere Schools. He also was an adjunct instructor at Ashland University where he was a Professional Fellow in the College of Education.

Eugene’s life reflected his love and relationship with Jesus. He was a faithful member of The Chapel where he enjoyed being in an ABF, singing in the choir and working with the Autumn Project and Peacemaking Ministry.

Eugene loved his family and is survived by his wife, Colleen; his children and their spouses, Denise and Mike Hannig, Dennis and Joyce Nofsinger, Debbie and Brad Lingenhoel; his grandchildren and their spouses, Brittany and Kyle Toth, Joshua and Alaina Lingenhoel, Rachel and Brandon Kyer; his great granddaughter, Winona Lynn Lingenhoel; and his nieces/nephews and their spouses, Terrie and Don Ferrell, Rev. Jim and Brenda Nofsinger, and Cathy Shafer.

Calling hours will be held at Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Akron, OH 44333, WEDNESDAY, September 25 from 6-8 pm and THURSDAY, September 26 from 11-1 pm. Service will follow at 1pm with Rev. Jim Nofsinger and Rev. Brandon Kyer officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park following the service.
