Eva W. Sayre
On 6-28-14 Eva W. Sayre passed away at the age of 93 to be with her husband, Richard Lloyd Sayre, to whom she was married for 34 years. Eva was a previous resident at the Village at St. Edward in Fairlawn, Ohio. Prior to moving to St. Edward, she resided in Kenmore from 1943 till 1999.
Eva was one of eight children born on a farm in West Frankfort, Illinois in 1920. She came to Akron , Ohio during World War II where she met and married Richard, a sailor in the US Navy. Eva worked for Goodyear Aircraft at the Akron Fulton Airport, building fighter aircraft during the war. Later she worked at the University of Akron as a cashier, from which she retired.
She attended the 14th street United Methodist Church, and Firestone Park United Methodist Church. Eva was very active at the Kenmore Senior Citizens Center during her time in Kenmore. She had many friends, including Kathy Wilson, Noreen McDonald, Velda Vogt, and Martha Breel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Sayre in 1976; her brothers, Kenneth (Marty), Mason (Betty), Kermit (Alice), Perry (Eula), Randall (Nola); sisters, Juanita (Chester), Sylvan (Ray). Her surviving family includes her three sons, Edwin Sayre of Akron, Kenneth Sayre of Springfield, Richard (Linda) Sayre of Pendergrass Ga.; her dearly loved niece, Patty Mueller (Rick) of Florida. She also leaves behind three grandchildren, Kevin (Sara) Sayre, Trisha (Rolland) Savage, Kimberly Sayre; two great grandchildren, Morgan and Hayden Savage; several nieces and nephews.
Eva brought joy to many people, and will be dearly missed by all.
Services will be held Noon THURSDAY at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Rev. Patricia Christ officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home WEDNESDAY from 5-8 p.m. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
