Evajean Moore Greenlun

March 28, 1921 — February 7, 2018

Evajean Moore Greenlun, RN, NP, 96, of Akron, passed away peacefully on February 7th, 2018 in her home with her devoted daughter Nancy by her side.
Preceded in death by her adoring husband, Marsh; parents, Glenna and Mark Moore; brothers, Don (Anne) and Jack; she is survived by daughters, Marsha Barna (Steven) and Nancy Stambaugh (Steve); grandchildren, Margaret Stambaugh (Andy Padrutt), Madeline Steigerwald (Matt), Trent Stambaugh (Jenny), Matthew Barna (Andrea), and Christel Barna (Todd); lloving sister-in-law, Donna Moore (Jack II); cousins, Marylin, Martha, and Pat; and treasured nephew, Josh.
Dedicated to a lifetime of service in public health, Evajean was a member of the first graduating class of nurse practitioners in the state of Ohio. Evajean served for 37 years at the Summit County Health Department and for 10 years as the night supervisor of Akron City Hospital. During her distinguished career, she proudly served as the president of the Ohio Nurses Association and of the Akron City Hospital Alumni Association. Never truly retired, she continued on to found Habitat for Humanity of Summit County in 1985, and was an active member of the Cuyahoga Portage Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. As veterans chairman of the DAR, Evajean established the connection to the Stand-Down event in support of local homeless veterans. Constant in her faith, Evajean was an active parishioner of St. Paul's Episcopal Church for over 85 years, founding, leading, and participating in numerous organizations and committees. While she will be dearly missed, Evajean's memory will continue to serve her loved ones as a guide for the life well lived.
Calling hours will be on Monday, February 12th from 4-7 pm. at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 13th at 11:00 am in the Chapel at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1361 W. Market St. Should friends desire, donations can be made to Habitat for Humanity of Summit County or Planned Parenthood of Northeastern Ohio. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
