Evelyn Fae Zimmerman, age 89, formerly of Akron, went peacefully to be with Jesus on Monday, February 10, 2014 with family members at her side at the Sentara Princess Anne Hospital in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Born November 3, 1924 in Akron, she was the daughter of Earl and Maude (Darst) Jordan. Evelyn was a member of the First Baptist Church of Akron, where she faithfully served her Sunday School as secretary; she was also a member of American Baptist Women (ABW). She retired from Montgomery Ward and she continued to meet with many friends for lunch for many years to follow.
Survivors include her daughters Karen (Bob) Van Cleve and Cheryl (Kevin) Beardsley; grandchildren: John Van Cleve, Heather, James, Noah, and Jacob Beardsley.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harold "Pete" whom she had married in 1951, grandson Eric Van Cleve, and twin sister Elvira Werkheiser.
Services will be held on Monday, February 17, 2014 at 11:00a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 1670 Shatto Ave, Akron 44313, where friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park.
The family suggests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Akron, To God be the Glory.
