Francis Michael Gardner, 68, passed away surrounded by family on May 6, 2009, following a short illness.
The Akron native worked as an accountant after receiving his schooling at St. Vincent High School and the University of Akron. He was an active member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church and a veteran of the Vietnam War. After retiring from Summit Grinding Co., he was a regular volunteer at Summa Hospital in Akron.
Mike loved discussing politics and current events almost as much as sports. He also enjoyed reading history and relaxing at a Lake Erie cottage. He was a dedicated and loving family man.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Regina McShaffrey Gardner; and his sister, Patricia Carpenter. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Judy Oser; daughters, Colleen Coats and Susan; four granddaughters, brother, Tom Peggy of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; and sister, Meg, and husband, Jim of Hinsdale, Illinois; and several nephews and nieces.
Services are Saturday, May 9th, at St. Sebastian Church with 12:30 p.m. visitation and 1:30 p.m. Mass. Burial immediately following services at Holy Cross Cemetery.
