Francis Gregory Shirk
Francis G. Shirk, 84, formerly of Akron died October 9, 2008 in New York City.
He was a graduate of Yale University Class of 1945 and a World War II Veteran. Preceded in death by his parents, Raymond G. and Eleanor Seiberling Shirk; and cousins, Marvin Mell and Francis "Skippy" Mell; he is survived by brother, James Laffer Shirk of Mayfield Heights, OH; and was the uncle of Gregory Laffer Shirk of Hudson, OH and Sarah Harlow Shirk Matthew Girson of Oak Park, Ill; great uncle of 3 adoring nieces and nephew; and cousin of Donald Kay Mell of Wilmington, Del.
Private graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Burial Park. Memorials may be made to the church where Francis served as an usher: St. Bartholomew, 109 East 50th St., New York, NY 10022.
