Frank Willey, 99, passed away Saturday morning at The Village at St. Edward in Fairlawn.
Frank was born in Ghent Ohio on May 5th, 1911 and lived in the Akron area all of his life. He defended his country in the Pacific theater of World War II.
Frank met his wife, Lucille on June 8th of 34, gave her a ring on June 8th of 35 and married her on June 8th of 36. During their 57 year marriage they visited all 50 states. Frank was a seventy-five year member of both the Ohio State Grange and the Masons. He was a trustee and handyman at Westlawn Methodist Church on Copley Road which merged with Christ United Methodist Church on Mineola Avenue. Of his many jobs the most prominent were at Yeagers, Goodyear Aircraft and Portage Machine, all of Akron. He enjoyed coin collecting, golf, Canasta and family and friends.
Preceded in death by wife, Lucille; brothers, Ken and Harold; sister, Betty Hawley; and son, Bruce; he is survived by sons, John Charlene, Walt Tish, eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Road with Rev. Benjamin J. Black, III officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
