Frank Winkler, 95, passed away January 9, 2013.
Frank was born in 1917 and lived in the greater Akron area all of his life. He was retired from Akron Equipment where he was a tool and die maker for more than 40 years which included working on tire molds for critical military planes and vehicles during World War II. He was also retired from Shaffer's Hardware and Grocery (East Liberty), a family business which he and his wife, Madeline, purchased from her father, Earl Shaffer.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Helen Winkler, and by his beloved wife, Madeline. He leaves behind, his sons, Frank (Rose) Winkler and John (Linda) Winkler; his daughter, Norma (Henry) Miller; grandchildren, Brian and Christa Winkler, and Cheri (Nate) Secrest; great-grandchildren, Amara, Madison and Christian.
Although he always worked hard, Frank's main priority was his family. He will always be remembered for his unconditional love, thoughtful guidance, positive attitude, and unfailing support.
Frank was a member of The Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio for 67 years, belonging to Wayfarer Lodge No. 789, and the Yusef-Khan Grotto.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the entire staff at Pebble Creek for the exceptional care and concern provided for Dad during the past seven years. We also wish to express our appreciation to the AseraCare Hospice team.
Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. Inurnment at East Liberty Cemetery. Memorials may be made to The Pebble Creek Activities Fund, 670 Jarvis Rd., Akron, OH 44319.
