Frank “Opa” Gjurkovitsch, age 89, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Bath Creek Estates Nursing Home.
He was born August 11, 1932, in Ruma, Yugoslavia; son of the late Frank and Katharina (nee Reinprecht) Jurcovich. During WWII, Frank’s family migrated to Linz Austria where Frank met his wife, Eva. Together, they came to the United States in 1959. Frank was a machinist at Prospect Mold in Cuyahoga Falls. He was a founding member of the German Family Society of Akron and proudly volunteered much of his time there. He enjoyed dancing with his wife, watching action and war movies, and any movie with his favorite actor, Errol Flynn. Frank also loved playing cards, gardening, and going to breakfast with other retirees. Frank loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His biggest joy in life were his four grandkids.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Eva (nee Reili) Gjurkovitsch, and brother Anton.
He is survived by his sons, Ronald (Vicki) and Richard (Gloria) Gjurkovitsch; granddaughters, Anna, Aimee, Jessica, and Taylor Gjurkovitsch; sister, Theresa Goettfert.
Services and burial will be private. Frank will be laid to rest with his wife in Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Frank’s name are suggested to the German Family Society of Akron, 3871 Ranfield Rd., Kent, OH 44240.
