Frederick "Fred" Melott, Sr., 89, of Cuyahoga Falls passed away July 9, 2018.
He was born to Mack and Clarissa Melott, November 16, 1928 and raised in Wileyville, W.Va. Fred lived in several states during his adult years including NC, FL, and TX. Fred was drafted to the U.S. Army during the Korean War and then proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as a Technical Sergeant in Vietnam, retiring in 1973. He then worked as a machinist for AkroMold in Cuyahoga Falls, retiring in 1992. He spent many of his active retirement years volunteering for the Red Cross.
Fred was preceded in death by his five siblings, as well as his only son, Army veteran Frederick Melott, Jr., in 2017. He is survived by his only daughter, Tamara (Brian) Clayton of Cuyahoga Falls, five grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.
