Fredric Pinter, 63 years old, passed away at Akron General’s Surgical Intensive Care Unit on Monday, June 21 at 4:30 pm.
He was born in Barberton, Ohio on May 16, 1958, to parents, Joe and Kathryn Pinter.
Fred graduated from Norton High School and attended Ohio State University for two years. He volunteered at Fairlawn Lutheran Church, helping with Brown Baggers, who provide meals to the homeless and OPEN M, where he often cooked the food for their luncheons. He was an outstanding golfer, often competing successfully in tournaments sponsored by the Summit Senior Golf of Akron Association. He was also a regular attendee of 12-step meetings in the Norton area. He liked music and attended all the Parish Arts Concerts at church, often helping with ushering. He loved the sound of the pipe organ and especially liked singing hymns with full organ and varied accompaniments. He loved sports and often watched the PGA golf tournaments, as well as the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers, Indians and Ohio State Buckeye football and basketball games. He took great care of his mom preceding her death in December, 2017, cooking all her meals and helping her in every way possible. He especially enjoyed helping her decorate the tree and house for the yearly Christmas celebrations and took her to church as often as possible. He loved all his brothers and sisters and especially loved Lhasa, Gary’s little dog, who also loved him.
Preceding him in death was his mother, Kathryn and father, Joe. He leaves behind his brothers, Gary and Richard, and his sisters, Pam (husband, David), Kathie (husband, Jim), Joellen, and his niece Shelly Koehler (husband, Dan).
Everyone is invited to his funeral, Saturday, June 26, at 11 am, at Fairlawn Lutheran Church. Visitation at the church will start at 10 am, prior to the funeral. A luncheon at 12:30 pm Saturday follows graveside services at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family wishes to thank everyone who helped with his care during the past few years, the doctors, nurses, therapists; and especially his brother Gary, who nursed him at his home the past six months.
