French was born in Akron, Ohio on March 26,1923 and was the son of French Britton and Lena Madelyn Rowe. French graduated from East High School. After going to Kent State, French enlisted in the US Army. He was a Master Sergeant of The 50th Military Government Company. He was awarded The American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal WWII. French served as a Japanese interpreter.
French was in the trucking business as an owner and retired after selling Priority Freight Systems in 1993.
His love for life and family goes beyond words. His greatest love was his wife, Joan, of 67 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, French and Lena Rowe; sister, Louise Rinker. He is survived by wife, Joan; daughters, Linda (Scott) Oneal, Holly (Bob) Kisler, Barbara (Chris) Markeson; and son, David (Eva) Rowe; grandchildren, Katelyn, Alexis, Robby, Christopher, Andrew, Cameron and Sebastian.
French also known by many as Frenchy-Baby, Mr. Sensational and the Captain by many of his friends. He was a member of Congress Lake Country Club and Westfield Country Club. He had a love for golf. If you were looking for Frenchy, you could always find him with Joan on the golf course. Frenchy always had a smile on his face and talked very little about himself. He always wanted to know what was going on with you. He will continue to live long and strong in the hearts and memories of all those that know and love him.
We as his family would like to send our deepest and sincere thanks to Kindred at Home Hospice and all the other caretakers that were always there for Frenchy.
