Fue Lane Yee, 81, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 17, 2018, reuniting with the love of her life, her husband of 41 years, Harry Yee (1934 - 2007).
Lane was welcomed into the world as Fue Lane Wong by her parents, Howe Soo and Quan Shee Wong, on December 2, 1936 in Williamsport, PA.
Lane earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and Chemistry from Bucknell University, and worked in viral disease research at the Rockefeller Foundation in Manhattan and Parke Davis in Detroit. After marrying Harry, she moved to Akron to raise a family and volunteer in her community.
Lane most celebrated life by sharing time with her cherished daughter, Janice Rothschild (and devoted son-in-law Rob) and their family. Janice and Lane shared a strong bond and nurtured their connection through wonderful travel and cultural adventures, timeless traditions, the joy of family gatherings, daily conversations, laughter and unconditional love.
Lane and her beloved grandsons, Harrison and Jonah, were extraordinarily close. Alongside them, she enjoyed family trips that included exploration of North America's geological and natural wonders and myriad museums, as well as attendance at orchestral and theatrical performances. She beamed with pride watching their recitals and plays, celebrating their academic achievements, and sharing heartwarming nightly bedtime calls. Her love for them was boundless.
With her warm presence and gentle strength, she expressed her everlasting love for her family and friends through every remembered birthday, every beautifully handwritten thank-you note, every phone call, every personalized gift and every gathering attended.
Lane was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters-in-law, Margaret Wong and Mary Lee; and brothers-in-law, Ray Seeto, Charles Lee, Wing Kee Wong and Phil Hom. Love for Lane will continue through the memories of her daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Rob Rothschild; her grandsons, Harrison and Jonah; her brothers, Wee (Gloria) Wong, Hip (Minnie) Wong, Nim (Oy) Wong and Neun (Helen) Wong; sister, Fue Lun Hom; 25 nieces and nephews, including the "Akron Doubles" Barbara (Wayne) Gipson, David (Amy) Wong, Michael (Sharon) Wong, Kathy (Matt) MacLean and Amy (Todd) Scott; 43 great-nieces and nephews; and many dedicated and caring friends.
